SIMSBURY, Conn. (WTNH) -- Police in Simsbury are investigating a suspected murder-suicide after a man and woman were found dead.
Police tape wrapped the Simsbury apartment at Meadows Apartments on Hopmeadow Street after authorities found a woman and man dead around 8:25 p.m. Wednesday night.
"I came home and there's a whole bunch of cops everywhere," said neighbor Mary Budd. "So my husband and I, we were walking around and they told us they heard two gunshots in the house."
State police major crimes worked well into the morning as neighbors headed to work.
"It's just sad to see it first thing in the morning when you wake up," said neighbor Amanda Lynds. "It's definitely not a good sight."
Neighbors say the couple that lived at the apartment were parents of a baby.
"The baby wasn't even a year old," Budd said. "So, it's kinda scary to see a little kid in that situation."
Police say they rushed to the apartments five minutes after a 911 call came in about a domestic dispute. The woman on the phone told the dispatched that her boyfriend was holding a gun on her and he was threatening to shoot her and him.
The dispatcher reported hearing several gunshots.
Police say when they got on scene, the two were dead, but the baby boy was safe in the home.
"I've never seen cops go to that apartment before," Lynds said.
The neighbors and police say they never heard a fight from the apartment before.
"The guy seemed like a pretty nice guy and she was always like busy busy busy and stuff. They didn't seem like they had any trouble," Budd said. "That was just a little shocker that that happened last night."
Now investigators are connecting clues about how and why the two are gone.
Police have not released the victims' names. The medical examiner is working to determine the exact cause of their deaths.
