PLAINVILLE, Conn. (WTNH) -- Officials have identified the pilot who was killed when his plane crashed just below the runway at Robertson Field in Plainville.
James E. Seaver from Torrington was killed in the July 26 crash.
The 51-year-old was attempting to land the Cessna 172 when it suddenly took a nose dive into the ground and caught fire.
Seaver was the only person on board.
Officials from the NTSB say Seaver had rented planes from Robertson Field before, paperwork he filled out in June indicated he had 1,000 hours of flight experience.
The investigation into the crash is expected to take between six and 12 months to complete.
