NEWINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) -- A truck became tangled in wires Wednesday morning and caused power lines to come down along New Britain Avenue, police said.

The area has been cleared and New Britain Avenue has fully reopened.

Police say that that a truck had its boom crane extended when it became tangled in wires on New Britain Avenue at Howard Street. This caused the power lines to come down.

Power has since been restored to most customers, but shortly after 7 a.m. there were 538 outages reported, or 3% of the town.

CL&P crews were on scene making repairs, but police said it would be an "extended operation."

There were no injuries reported.
