HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- A tractor trailer accident caused four water main breaks in Hartford Thursday.
Around 3 p.m., a tractor trailer hit a fire hydrant on Airport Road.
The accident caused four water main breaks on three separate mains.
Officials said two breaks are on the north side of Airport Rd., with one that caused a shut down of service from Wethersfield Ave. to Locust St., and the other main caused a shut down of service between Ledyard St. and the I-91 overpass.
The third break is on Ledyard Rd., and caused a service shutdown from Airport Rd. to Ledyard St.
MDC said 35 businesses are without water due to the water main breaks. All are commercial.
Officials said crews are making progress.
As of 10 p.m., the entire north side had been repaired and businesses on Ledyard St. had water. The remaining water main on the south side was repaired by 2 a.m. Friday morning.
