Granby, Conn (WTNH) - A female driver has died after crashing her car into a tree in Granby Saturday afternoon.
Around 2:10pm, the woman was driving along Copper Hill Road near Peterson Road, when she lost control and drove her car into a tree. When police arrived on the scene, they requested assistance from the Lost Acres Fire Department to extricate the driver, who was trapped in the vehicle.
Firefighters removed the woman from her car, and she was taken by ambulance to Hartford Hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
Police said the driver was not in possession of any ID at the time of the accident. Officers have made a tentative identification, but are withholding the release of her name until a positive identification can be made by the Medical Examiner's office, and then her family notified.
From their preliminary investigation, officers believe that speed was a factor in causing the accident.
If you witnessed this crash, or have any information that could help in the investigation, you're asked to call Granby police at 860-844-5334.
