BLOOMFIELD, Conn. (AP) — A sergeant in the U.S. Air Force who lost his eyesight while serving in Afghanistan is to receive a guide dog from Connecticut's Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation .

Sgt. Corey Kemp, who lost his sight while disarming roadside bombs in September 2010, is scheduled to visit Fidelco on Friday. Kemp, who is from Las Vegas, will test walk several dogs and receive a German shepherd.

U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, a member of the Armed Services Committee, is scheduled to join Kemp and tour the Fidelco campus in Bloomfield.

Fidelco says Kemp's guide dog is made possible by a donation from Newman's Own Foundation, a charity established by the late actor, Paul Newman.
