Hartford, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal says he has demanded documents from CVS Caremark in a dispute over what he says is the drug retailer's threat to end a consumer discount drug program in the state.
Gov. M. Jodi Rell had asked Blumenthal to investigate, saying CVS could be violating state law and robbing consumers of valuable discounts.
Blumenthal wants CVS to explain why the discounts to the state Medicaid program would result in an end to its Health Savings Pass program in Connecticut.
Mike DeAngelis, a spokesman for the Woonsocket, R.I., company, says CVS Health Savings Pass is a voluntary membership program not required by any law. He says CVS informed the state it may discontinue the program in Connecticut if the state demands access for Medicaid.
