Mother blogs about sons mental illness

(WTNH) -- News 8 is getting more insight of the mental state surrounding Adam Lanza, the attacker in the Newtown shootings.

Friends of his mother, Nancy Lanza, say she was growing more concerned about his behavior over the last few months.

What happened in Newtown led to a mother from Idaho to blog about her own challenges with her son's mental illness.

Writer Liza Long says, "I live with a son who is mentally ill. I love my son. But he terrifies me."

That blog is being widely circulated online.

News 8's Jocelyn Maminta met with Christine Montgomery, a licensed clinical social worker at Clifford Beers Clinic, an outpatient mental health clinic in New Haven, to get more insight on mental illnesses.
