New Haven, Conn. (WTNH) - A New Haven resident is hospitalized with the West Nile virus, the state Department of Public Health says.

The person is between 60-69 years of age and recently spent a lot of time outdoors and did not use mosquito repellent. They became ill during the second week of August.

West Nile is characterized by fever, headache and body aches.

There has been one other "probable" case of West Nile this year. The Trumbull resident did not require hospitalization.
