Wolcott (WTNH) - Tyrrell Middle School in Wolcott will be closed Thursday and Friday due to four students testing positive for the swine flu (H1N1). The school will not be dismissing early today.

All school and town activities at the Tyrrell Middle School building from June 3 at 4 p.m. through June 7 are canceled.

On Monday, Tyrrell Middle School had 159 students absent. Tuesday, 200 students were absent and today there are 211 students absent from school.

All other schools in the district will continue to be open and operate under normal hours.

Tyrrell Middle School will be disinfected with PH7Q, a chemical that kills all types of influenza.

The last day of school will be June 19, 2009 for all schools in Wolcott. Middle school graduation will remain as scheduled.

New Haven School District has also reported one case of H1N1, but no schools have been closed.

"We do not anticipate any serious incidents as all indications point to very mild cases," New Haven Public School's Chief Operating Officer Will Clark said in a news release.

Superintendent of Schools Michael Cicchetti reported earlier this week that H1N1 flu was confirmed in a student at Willard Elementary School in Berlin. This school did not close and the student is expected to return to school around June 8.

There have been over 350 reported cases statewide so far. Only two cases have required hospitalization, both of which have be discharged. No deaths from the swine flu in Connecticut have been reported.
