New Haven (WTNH) - So far this summer West Nile Virus has shown up in four Connecticut towns. As of today no human has been infected, and health officials in New Haven want to keep it that way.
This morning the city will hand out bug spray to seniors as it kicks off a campaign to stop West Nile Virus kicks off.
More than 148,000 mosquitoes have been tested this summer. Cromwell, Darien, Greenwich and Stratford have all had documented cases of the virus in mosquitoes.
Traps where West Nile Virus carrying mosquitoes have been found are all over the state.
Doctors say the elderly and very young children are most likely to suffer the worst effects of West Nile. In order to safeguard humans New Haven Health experts will talk to residents and hand out bug spray to all senior centers.
