VOLUNTOWN, Conn. (WTNH) -- People living in a section of Voluntown have been told to boil their water before using it.

This all happened after water quality testing showed potentially unsafe levels of E. coli present in the water.

The areas affected include Rod Road, Lakeside Terrace, Tanglewood Lane and Valley Drive.

Water company officials are working with the Connecticut Department of Public Health to identify the source of the E. coli.

A water tanker has been brought in and stationed at the end of Lakeside Terrace to provide drinking water until the tap water is safe to drink.
