NEW MILFORD, Conn. (WTNH/AP) -- Police say a man has been killed and two people injured in a propane explosion at a house in New Milford.
Killed in the explosion was Anthony Fratino, 47, of New Milford. His nine-year-old son Nicholas was critically injured, as was the homeowner, John Wilkinson.
Fratino, a neighbor, was trying to help Wilkinson repair a propane leak. Police spokesman Lt. Larry Ashe said the injured man and a child were taken to hospitals with lacerations and burns.

Rescuers had feared another person was trapped, but no one else was at home when the Cape-style farmhouse exploded at about 7 p.m.
Only the chimney was left standing. The site is on Sunny Valley Road near the intersection of Sunny Valley Lane, across from a nature preserve.
Ashe said onlookers were being kept away because asbestos particles might have been spread in the air.
