A toddler dies, but no one may be tried

WINSTED, Conn. (WTNH) -- A Winsted woman, who was convicted and then cleared of killing her 19-month old daughter, says she is upset that no one may be tried for the toddler's death.

Kimberly Mawson spent nearly three years in a Rhode Island prison for the initial conviction. She was released earlier this month.

The little girl died of a traumatic brain injury in 2002, after collapsing at Mawson's ex-boyfriend's apartment in Warwick.

Rhode Island's Attorney General has said that he will not be going after the ex-boyfriend because a trial would likely not end in a conviction.
