(WTNH) - Two big Hollywood movie stars made a stop-over in Connecticut. The horses that played "Secretariat" and "Hidalgo" on the big screen are on tour with their trainer.
They are being used to show horse lovers how to better communicate with their animals and solve behavior problems.
RJ has starred as Hildalgo. And Mr. T is in theaters right now starring as Secretariat.
The horses and their trainers -- Cari Swanson and Rex Peterson -- made a stop at the Top Cat Farm in Killingworth Wednesday.
"One of the biggest problems is people don't have respect from their horses,” said trainer Cari Swanson. “They get into a lot of trouble and so we have to fix the horse and we also have to fix the owner."
They travel around the country giving horse owners, who have trouble with their horses, tips on getting things right. Usually the trainers say the problem isn't the horse.
Cari Swanson/horse trainer continued,“Every one of them, the problem is just the owner because they don’t understand the boundaries to give to their horse.”
The trainers say one of the problems they had in filming Secretariat is that it was impossible to get a horse to open up a 31-length lead in a race just like the real Secretariat did back in 1973.
