KENT, Conn. (AP) — State police say a 22-year-old man has drowned while fishing in a river in Kent.

Authorities say Felix Sanchez was fishing in the Housatonic River Sunday afternoon when he was swept away by a current and went underwater.

Firefighters from the surrounding communities responded to the scene. Divers found Sanchez after about an hour.

The Hartford Courant reports he was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

State police continue to investigate.
