Litchfield (AP) - Actor Rip Torn has been given probation in a drunken driving case in Connecticut.
The 78-year-old Salisbury resident was given approval Tuesday to enter an alcohol education program. Under the program Torn can drive, but the judge says he must submit to retesting to keep his driver's license because of a severe hearing impairment.
Torn was arrested Dec. 14, 2008 after police were alerted that he had stumbled out of The White Hart Inn.
He qualified for the program even though he has two previous drunken driving arrests in New York.
Torn has been on television's "30 Rock" and starred in the "Men in Black" movies.
