Police K9 finds missing elderly man

SHARON, Conn. (WTNH) -- An elderly man from Sharon is safe after a police K9 located him Sunday afternoon.

Police said the 86-year-old man is a patient at an assisted living facility.

The man was reported missing around 5:30 a.m., after last being seen in his bedroom Saturday night.

The man suffers from dementia and was in need of medication.

A State Police K9 found the man around 3:30 p.m., in a wooded area approximately 300 yards from the facility. He was waist deep in a swamp.

The man was taken to the hospital for medical evaluation.
