NORFOLK, conn. (WTNH) - The first snow fall of the season hit Connecticut, and the majority of it went to the Litchfield Hills.
In Norfolk it is still coming down, but it's not as heavy as it was earlier in the day.
About an inch of snow piled up, and thats hardly enough to make a snowman, but it was enough to make a mess of the roads.
The snow likely came as a surprise, because there has been reports of accidents and slick road conditions.
"It's more than I expected, but they call us the ice box of Connecticut, so we're kind of used to it," says Haley Bachman of Norfolk.
"I'm from Norfolk, it's um the ice box of Connecticut," says Chris Oen.
Norfolk gets it's reputation from it's higher elevation and considerably colder temperatures. It's living up to it's reputation with an inch of snow on the ground before Halloween.
"I love it," says Oen.
Others are taking the early snow fall in stride.
"I mean, it's kind of exciting because it's the first snow and all that so," says Bachman.
Although there is only an inch of snow on the ground, it can still be dangerous. The roads are not covered but they are slick.
"I hope not, hopefully this is as bad as it will get," says Bachman.
"I heard the Farmer's Almanac said that it's gonna be kind of like last year, so I gotta go buy a snow shovel," says Oen.
The snow is still coming down in Norfolk so more could accumulate, and one could never be to careful when traveling in the wintery mix of weather.
