TORRINGTON, Conn. (WTNH)-- A Torrington cop was arrested for operating under the influence on early Tuesday morning.
Police received a report of a one car accident on the 600 block of New Harwinton Road, at 1:27 AM. The car had slid across a roadway, striking a snow bank.
Matthew Gonska, 32, was charged with operating under the influence and traveling too fast, after police conducted a field sobriety test.
There were no injuries and only minor damage to his vehicle.
Gonska has been a police officer with the Torrington police department since August 2010. He was initially placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.
Gonska returned to work on Thursday, on administrative duty.
He was off duty at the time of the arrest and will appear in court on February 25th.
