(WTNH) -- Drivers who use Route 8 near Thomaston are advised to be on the lookout for moose.
The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection says moose have been sighted around that area.
"Moose near roadways pose a particular danger because their dark color and tall stance make them difficult to see at night and, once struck, more likely to collapse through the vehicle windshield," DEEP spokesman Dwayne Gardner said in a statement.
Connecticut is home to about 100 to 150 moose, mostly in the woods in the northeast and northwest corners of the state.
Anyone who hits a moose or deer with their car should report the incident to police. And if you see a moose, Contact DEEP and let them know by going to their website.
