Accident on Rt 66 in Middlefield

Middlefield, Conn. (WTNH) - Middlefield police are investigating a two car crash.

It happened in front of Guida's Restaurant, along Route 66.

State police say one car was heading westbound when it crossed the double-line into the eastbound lane and hit an on-coming pick-up truck.

The car was mangled and the driver had to be cut out of the vehicle.

At the time of the crash, the roads were wet and investigators believe speed may have been a factor.

Both drivers sustained minor injuries.
