MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH)-- A body was found in the Connecticut River in Middletown, on Saturday morning.

Police say they found the body of a man floating in the river, just south of the Cromwell line, adjacent to Rte. 9 North, after a kayaker reported it around 10:40 A.M.

The body was near the shore but down a steep embankment.

At 11:30 AM, the fire department was able to hoist the body up the embankment.

The Chief Medical Examiner arrived at the scene and although an initial identification has been made, the identity of the man is being withheld pending a positive identification.

At this time, no foul play is suspected.
