WESTBROOK, Conn. (AP) — Authorities say they have recovered the body of a man who disappeared while swimming with friends in Long Island Sound.
State police say the body of 32-year-old Benji Aven was found on Tuesday.
Aven was reported missing a day earlier after he was last seen wading in the sound near Salt Island. Police say he tried to return to shore during high tide when he began having difficulty.
Agencies including a state police dive team, the U.S. Coast Guard and local fire departments were involved in a search for Aven.
The Coast Guard says the waters of the Long Island Sound can be especially hazardous at night.
