MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut officials will be gathering at the state Veterans Cemetery in Middletown on Veterans Day to honor state residents who served in the military and those currently deployed with the Armed Forces.
Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and other state officials are expected to take part in Sunday afternoon's event, which will include a wreath-laying ceremony. Similar services are being held across the country.
Malloy says the service offers an opportunity to recognize the extraordinary work that military veterans have done to safeguard the state and the nation. The governor says immeasurable sacrifices also have been made by the families of those serving in the military.
Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman says it's a time to remember how important it is to support veterans and troops.
