Deep River, Conn (WTNH) - State police have arrested a Deep River man for allegedly threatening a Connecticut State Employee Credit Union employee over the phone Tuesday morning.
At approximately 9:30am, state police said Richard Hanlon, 64, of Deep River, was on the phone with a Connecticut State Employee Credit Union employee at the Hartford branch regarding a dispute with his credit card. When the employee suggested Hanlon go to the Middletown CSE branch to further the transaction dispute, officers said that Hanlon told the employee, "I think I will, and I'll bring a gun and two hand grenades."
Hanlon later told police that he intended his remark to the person who used his credit card fradulently, and not towards the bank employee.
Hanlon was placed under arrest, and charged with breach of peace and threatening. He is being held on $25,000 bond. He is due in Middletown Superior Court on Wednesday.
