East Hampton, Conn. (WTNH) - A special session of the East Hampton Town Council was called to order Wednesday morning, but afterward, little information was revealed on the status of town manager Jeffrey O'Keefe.
An outside labor attorney, has however, will be hired to negotiate a separation agreement of a management-level town employee. If that is O'Keefe, we still don't know.
The 11 a.m. meeting came after weeks of protests and debate over the removal of the town's police chief by the town manager.
O'Keefe has been the center of the controversy since June when he acted to remove veteran police chief Matthew Reimondo. O'Keefe said it was because of budget cuts, and the town council even went so far as to eliminate the town ordinance requiring East Hampton to have a police chief.
But O'Keefe's opponents say that's not why all this went down. The chief had started looking into allegations against O'Keefe, specifically three sexual harassment complaints brought against him by three female town employees.
The agenda that News 8 has does not name the person who will be discussed. It just says a management-level town employee. The council will go into executive session to discuss possibly removing this person.
