Father of WTNH producer killed

One of five fatailties in plant explosion

    Middletown, Conn. (WTNH) - One of the workers killed in the Middletown plant explosion was Ray Dobratz, the father of WTNH sports producer Erik Dobratz.

    The 58-year-old Old Saybrook man was a plumber, and member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 777.

    Ray Dobratz loved fishing with his sons, spending time with his family and he loved construction. He had been doing it since he was 18.

    He also served on the Old Saybrook police commission for many years.

    Ray Dobratz leaves behind three sons, including Erik, along with five grandchildren and his wife of 38 years, Paula.

    Our thoughts and prayers are with their family this morning.
