MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH) -- A fire tore through a two story home in Middletown early Friday morning.
Just before 2 a.m. a fire on Farm Hill Road was called in.
The fire spread all the way from the first floor to the roof, police said.
The captain told News 8 that the second floor was empty and likely under renovations, but people on the first floor had to run for their lives.
The Fire Captain said, "There was roughly 3 or 4 people home on the first floor at the time of the incident. They made it out of the house safely and called the fire in themselves."
Investigators believe the fire started outside, but ended up causing extensive damage to the inside, police said.
