Gas leak shuts down Main St. in Middletown

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH) -- Main Street in Middletown was shut down for about an hour after a gas leak.

Officials from Yankee Gas say a construction crew accidentally broke a gas line inside a vacant commercial building near Main and Court Streets around 1:30 p.m.

The gas company shut off the gas from outside the building so repairs could be made.

Roads in the area were shut down for about an hour and two nearby restaurants were evacuated.

Officials say everything has since reopened and the building is airing out.
