ESSEX, Conn. (WTNH) -- Four fire departments were called in to battle a house fire on Deep River Road/Route 154 in Essex.
The road was closed while firefighters from Essex, Old Saybrook, Deep River, and Westbrook fought the flames.
All but the basement of the single family house was destroyed.
No one was inside the home and no firefighters were injured.
The Red Cross is assisting the family of four with temporary housing, food and clothes.
No word yet on the cause.
