CROMWELL, Conn. (WTNH) -- A Cromwell father suffered burns to his arms rescuing his two children from a fire that caused extensive damage to their home Friday morning.
The was reported around 5:00 a.m. at the home on Court Street. Flames could be seen coming from the second floor of the home.
The father suffered burns, but other than minor smoke inhalation his children were not injured. A family dog was also rescued.
"First thing I did was make sure they were all right. He had some minor burns on his forearms. They all had evidence of smoke inhalation with soot around the nose," Asst. Chief Donald Quick, of the Cromwell Fire Dept., said.
The fire destroyed the second floor of the home and fire marshals are investigating how it started.
The names of the victims have not been released.
