Higganum, Conn. (WTNH) - A man was hospitalized after his vehicle struck a rock wall and went airborne Saturday night.

The accident happened shortly after 10 p.m., near the intersection of Parker Hill Road South and Parker Hill Road, in Higganum.

Police said Joel Junokas, of Middletown, was traveling eastbound on Parker Hill Road South, when his vehicle continued straight through the intersection and left the roadway.

The car then struck a wall, becoming airborne and flying approximately 200 feet through the air, hitting multiple trees before coming to rest.

Junokas was taken to Hartford Hospital via LifeStar. He is in critical condition.
