Man pulled from pond, pronounced dead

DURHAM, Conn. (WTNH) -- A 22-year-old man has died after he was pulled from the water at Millers Pond State Park Monday afternoon.

Nicholas Wint of Windsor was swimming with friends when he went under the water and did not re-surface.

Divers from Middletown South District and Haddam Volunteer Fire Departments found him in the water and he was taken by ambulance to Middlesex Hospital. He was later transferred by Lifestar helicopter to Hartford Hospital.

He was pronounced dead at Hartford Hospital early Tuesday morning.

The incident remains under investigation by CT DEEP Environmental Conservation Police.

Miller's Pond is not a designated swim area and there are no lifeguards.
