Man drowns in Durham pond

DURHAM, Conn. (WTNH) - Authorities have identified a West Haven man who drowned at Millers Pond State Park in Durham.

The body of Richard Bland, 21, was pulled from the pond around 5:40 p.m. Wednesday.

He was later pronounced dead at Middlesex Hospital.

The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP)  says the man was struggling while swimming for nearly an hour.

The drowning remains under investigation
