Massage shop closed raises questions

CLINTON, Conn. (WTNH) - A Clinton massage parlor that was shut down last week following a prostitution investigation and arrest is still being advertised as open.
      
Jade Massage Therapy at the corner of West Main Street and John Street Extension in the Post Office Square was closed because workers weren't licensed to practice massage. Residents are concerned about a sign that says the parlor is still open.
      
Jade Massage Therapy was busted by Clinton police and state police. Employee Yan Qin,39, known as Connie was arrested for prostitution.  The shoreline community was shocked, and the business was shut down. Now, a few blocks down West Main Street there is a sign advertising the business as open.

When News 8 called the business, no one answered. Mattresses were stacked up against the door. There are two other signs on the corner outside Glen Cubin's shop, indicating that the massage parlor is open.

"People come here, they're like where is this massage parlor? I'm like, I don't know," said Glen Cubin.

Cubin said he heard about the massage parlor bust, but doesn't understand why there are still signs, or why they surround his business.

"There's a sign there, I don't know, maybe it's, I don't know," said Cubin.

Neighbors in the area who didn't want to go on camera said the massage parlor owner lives nearby.

Police said the massage parlor is not currently open for business.  They also said that just because one employee is accused of a crime, it doesn't mean the business has to close.  According to the Madison Patch , the owner does have a valid massage license that is good through the month of April.

"Prostitution, you think I want anything to do with that, all that stuff's wrong," said Cubin.
