EAST HADDAM, Conn. (WTNH) -- A Mountain lion spotting in Connecticut? Surprisingly, we've seen them before.
East Haddam Animal Control Officer Michael Olzacki says he spotted a mountain lion in his area Friday morning.
"Back in the fall, we're coming down the road to my right. First thing in the morning I see this large brown cat, with a long tail cross in front of me," said Olzacki. "At first, the First Selectman Mark Walters and I thought, people are going to think our nuts. We need to release something, we need to tell people what we saw, so we notified the state, the state did their thing, they had footprints, they weren't clear enough for them."
Connecticut was captivated last year after a mountain lion that journeyed from South Dakota to Connecticut and was killed in Milford on the Merritt Parkway. Olzacki believes another cat is in the Constitution State.
"As recent as this morning, a man called me and told me about his daughter's experience," said Olzacki. A car hit it, was laying in the side of the road, they came back in fifteen minutes and it was gone."
All the world's a stage, and the drama in East Haddam certainly has intrigue. All Olzacki needs now is a picture for his proof.
"Countless half-dozens have said to me, 'Hey I saw it too.' They gotta be here, but finding that 'Big Foot' picture would be wonderful," he said.
After the big cat was killed in Milford, the DEEP conducted an investigation and said there are no more in the state.
