Nearly 300 high school students got a chance to put some of their newly acquired skills to the test and help out a great cause.
The kids came from technical schools across the state to work at Camp Farnam, a camp that lets kids in New Haven take a break from city life.
"Especially in a time where all non-profits are hurting, getting this labor from these great kids who are having a great time doing it and their instructors amaze me, they're all doing it and they want to do it," said Robert Lane, Farnam Neighborhood House.
The kids are doing carpentry, staining decks and shoveling sandboxes, among other things.
"I like that it gets everyone involved in the community and it gets us out of school," said Jonathan Holmes, a student at Vinyl Tech.
