Box truck driver hits parked cars, dies

Middletown (WTNH) - A Plantsville man driving a box truck in Middletown Thursday morning, was pronounced dead shortly after veering off the road and striking parked cars.

John LaMontagne of Plantsville, 51, was pronounced dead at Middlesex Hospital.

According to authorities with the Middletown Police Department, LaMontagne was traveling on William Street around 10:20 a.m., Thursday, when he moved to the right of the travel lane and struck a parked car.

Following this, he continued to strike the rear of another parked car which resulted in a chain reaction impact of three additional unoccupied parked vehicles.

There were no other injuries reported as a result of this collision.

An investigation as to whether or not LaMontagne had a pre-existing condition is being conducted.
