Middletown, Conn. (WTNH) -- A 59-year-old Middlefield man died after being struck by a vehicle in Middletown Wednesday evening.
Michael Galizia was hit around 8:00 p.m. when he tried to cross the street near 955 Washington Street, also known as Route 66. Galizia was taken to Middlesex Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police identified the driver of the vehicle as William Smith, 59, of Springfield Massachusetts. He was driving east when his Jeep Liberty hit Galizia. Smith was not hurt.
The road was closed for several hours between Plaza Drive and George Street, while authorities investigated what happened.
