MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH) -- Route 66 in Middletown is back open after it was shut down for nearly three hours Wednesday morning while firefighters battled a fire at an apartment building.
Firefighters were called to the fire at 150 Washington Street/Route 66 around 5 a.m. It took some time to extinguish the flames under the building's roof, but firefighters say by 7:45 a.m. the fire was finished.
The road was reopened around 8 a.m.
It appears the fire started in the back of the two-and-a-half story apartment building.
The fire began in a dumpster next to the house. From there, the flames moved up the exterior wall and into the roof.
None of the 10 people inside were injured.
