CHESTER, Conn. (WTNH) -- Divers were back at the Chester Point Marina Monday morning to locate the body of a missing swimmer.
"They are utilizing side scan sonar in a grid search of the area in an effort to find the victim," explained Lt. J. Paul Vance from State Police.
Two brothers jumped off a dock near Chester Point Marina Sunday afternoon, but only one made it to the family boat.
37-year-old Dariusz Czarnota of East Hampton never surfaced.
State police divers combed the waters for ten hours on Sunday, only to return Monday morning.
The divers braved strong currents to locate the missing man.
"Divers are highly trained, navy trained. They will put their life on the line in an attempt to locate the victim," Lt. Vance said. "They will stay out here and hopefully find the victim."
Troopers plan to speak with Czarnota's family and witnesses to get a complete picture of exactly what happened.
As of 4:30 p.m. Monday afternoon, all agencies were leaving the area and the search was called off. Meanwhile, a helicopter will fly over to search.
