Shoe store catches fire in Old Saybrook

OLD SAYBROOK, Conn. (WTNH) -- Firefighters battled a blaze at a shoe store in Old Saybrook Wednesday night.

The fire broke out just before 7 p.m., at Payless, located at 665 Boston Post Rd.

The fire, which was in the back storage room, was extinguished quickly.

Fire officials said there was moderate smoke damage.

Additionally, carbon monoxide leaked in the Payless, as well the two stores next to it.

Payless is closed and will remain closed while the fire marshal investigates.
