Teen hospitalized after jumping from overpass

CROMWELL, Conn. (WTNH) -- A teen girl was hospitalized after jumping from a highway overpass in Cromwell Friday night.
The incident occurred shortly after 8 p.m.
A motorist on West St., over Route 9, reported a female pedestrian sitting on the guardrails with her feet dangling from the highway overpass.
Upon arrival, officers found the 14-year-old Middletown girl after she jumped from the overpass, striking the ground adjacent to the Route 9 southbound lanes. Police said it was approximately a 40' fall.
The girl was taken to Hartford Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
