Middletown, Conn. (WTNH) - A 15-year-old Middletown High School student was taken to the hospital after being struck by a car.

52-year-old Brian Bomely was driving a 2007 Volkswagen Jetta eastbound on LaRosa Lane when he struck the teenager around 2:09 p.m.

Police say the teen crossed the right lane on the street between two school buses but was struck by the Jetta on the left side of the road.

The 15-year-old is in stable condition at Connecticut Children's Medical Center.

Police say a second 16-year-old student also sustained minor injuries after falling to the ground to avoid being hit by the vehicle. The student was taken to Middlesex Hospital as a precaution.

Bomley was not injured in the incident.

Witnesses to the collision are asked to contact Officer David Godwin of the Traffic Unit (860) 344-3264.
