CLINTON, Conn. (AP) — Clinton school officials are drawing up a new logo to avoid a spat with the University of Connecticut over the college's huskie mascot.

The Hartford Courant reports that Superintendent of Schools John F. Cross believes the district's Morgan School has had a husky dog as its mascot for 25 or 30 years. But UConn has advised school officials to stop using the university's look-alike dog.

James D. Aronowitz, associate general counsel for the Collegiate Licensing Company, which represents UConn, told Clinton educators that using a similar dog could interfere with UConn's ability to effectively market and license the use of the logo.

Cross said several students are developing a new husky dog logo that he promises will be sufficiently different from UConn's.
