New chief for Hartford fire department

Hartford (WTNH) - A Hartford fire marshal will take over as chief of the city's fire department next year, Mayor Eddie Perez announced Friday.

Edward Casares, Jr. will officially become fire chief on April 10, 2010.

Casares was appointed fire marshal by outgoing Chief Charles Teale.

Casares will be the city's first latino chief.
