MILFORD, Conn. (AP) — Milford police say a local man has died after he and three family members were hit by a car on a street where the sidewalks hadn't been cleared of snow after the blizzard.

Police say 53-year-old Kevin Tanski died Tuesday afternoon at Bridgeport Hospital. His wife, 51-year-old Brenda Tanski, remains in critical condition at the same hospital.

Their 21-year-old daughter, Jenny Tanski, suffered minor injuries. A fourth relative wasn't hurt.

Authorities say the family members were struck by a car Monday morning while walking on the shoulder of Bridgeport Avenue. Police say they were walking the same way as the traffic and not against it as recommended.

The driver of the car stopped and cooperated with police. No charges have been filed. The accident remains under investigation.
