28-year-old shot in chest, no suspect

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- A 28-year-old man was shot in the chest Tuesday night.

Around 7:15 p.m. officers responded to a reported shooting in the area of 194 Hamilton Street in the Farnham Court Housing Complex.

The victim's mother, Mary Cretella-Rey, called 911 to report her son, Frank Antonelli of Waterbury had been shot in the chest and that she was taking him to Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Officials responded to the reported shooting scene and the hospital.

The victim told officials he and his mother had drive to Ferraro's supermarket. When they arrived, they found it closed and drove down Hamilton Street. He said three men approached them on foot and that the men tried to rob them and one, armed with a handgun, shot him, police reported.

Antonelli is listed in stable condition.

Police haven't identified a suspect.

The investigation is ongoing.
