Branford (WTNH) - Three men working at a home in Branford were shocked while lowering a ladder from a roof.

It happened at a home on Meadow Street around 3:30pm.

The men worked for All Aspects of Carpentry, a business based out of North Branford.

One man was on the roof of the house, two were on the ground when they began to lower the ladder. The ladder struck the power lines, shocking all three.

Chris Roberts was also working with the crew.

"I heard the spark, turned around and basically saw the ladder falling. That was all that I saw," he said.

Roberts quickly ran over and began administering CPR to the two men who were not breathing.

Officials say the men endured about 13,200 volts of electricity; the substation is only about a quarter of a mile away from the accident scene.

"This is not a little tingle like you'd get in your house. This is heavy duty voltage going down the street," said Chief Jack Ahern, Branford Fire Department.

Two of the men went into cardiac arrest. One was alert and breathing. All have been taken to an area hospital for treatment.

"They were in and out of consciousness, but basically they were foaming and gurgling and not looking very good," said Roberts.

The victims have been identified as 57-year old Billy Twyford, the owner of All Aspects of Carpentry, and brothers, Rory and Travis Moody of Branford.
